ATTENTION: If you purchased your software at the PocketGear site please realize that we can no longer provide any direct level of support. PocketGear insists that all trouble tickets be routed through them. PocketGear says they will then contact us and we are to respond to them and they will route a response back to you.
In addition, PocketGear no longer informs the developers when people purchase any developers' (not just ours) applications. Therefore we cannot verify if you are an authorized user. We have made the decision to no longer sell any of our products through PocketGear, however their decision does affect all our previous customers who purchased Stocks and Weather Today through the PocketGear portal.
As you know , we have been offering free upgrades since we released Stocks and Weather Today back in 2002. Due to our increased costs, we don't think we will be able to provide upgrades for free to people who have purchased the application at the PocketGear site. We still intend to offer free upgrades to people who have purchased Stocks and Weather Today at all the other portals.
If you purchased Stocks and Weather Today from PocketGear then your application will probably get deactivated in the near future. In order to have it reactivated you must contact PocketGear and make the request. They will then contact us and we will update the Authentication Server. If you move the applicaiton to another mobile device or perform a soft reset on the device then the application may need to be reactivated again through the PocketGear site. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE PURCHASED OUR APPLICATION THROUGH POCKETGEAR. The reason the application will get deactivated is that we purged all the PocketGear purchases from our database because PocketGear considers people who purchased Stocks and Weather Today to be PocketGear's customers and not ours.

Odds are, any problems you are experiencing are covered
here (95% of the questions we get are answered below). Please
see if your question(s) can be answered on this page before sending
us an email. If you are still having issues and questions please
be very specific in your email. Please include the make &
model of your Pocket PC. How you are connecting to the Internet
(ActiveSync, GPRS, 802.11, etc.). If you are having networking
issues the please let us know if you are behind a proxy server
(you probably are if you are using it in the office and you work
for a corporation).
Notice to existing
users: If you are running version 5.29 (or earlier)
you must upgrade to the latest version. This upgrade is free.
You can get the latest version by clicking here. Please follow
this simple procedure for doing the upgrade:

Start-->Settings-->Today-->Items

Uncheck StocksToday
-
Tap OK (returns to Today Screen).

Download and install this file to perform upgrade

Answer 'Yes' to replace existing files

Please note: If you
get an error message stating the file is in use, then the application
was not stopped
If the above is not working, then try the following:

Start-->Settings-->Today--Items

Highlight StocksToday

Tap Options
-
On the bottom right you will see arrow to select the different
tabs

Tap the right arrow until you see Upgrade/Uninstall

Tap on the Upgrade/Uninstall tab

Push the Upgrade button

Perform a soft reset

Download and install THIS

The application says it is disabled. What is the problem?
There are several reasons why the
application has been disabled. Usually, it will tell you.
If it simply says "Application Disabled" then
you probably never were able to go out on the Internet and
connect to the servers. If you are using this at work you
are probably using a proxy. Try going to S & W T
Options and change the proxy settings from Automatic to
"Always use Proxy", if that does not work try
changing it to "Never use Proxy". After you make
the changes and get back to the today screen you might
also want to perform a soft reset.
If the application says, "Cannot
communicate with the server" then the application
failed to communicate with the server. It might be because
the servers are down or you are having network issues. If
the application was working and you get this message, try
performing a soft reset.
The application may also become
disabled if you install the application on more than one
Pocket PC (unless you purchased multiple licenses). If you
install it on Pocket PC #1, and then install it on Pocket
PC #2, Pocket PC #1 will be disabled.. If you uninstall it
from Pocket PC #2 and want to continue to use it on Pocket
PC #1 send us an email
and we will remove the lock from Pocket PC #1. Sorry about
this, but lots of people were giving out registration
codes and even publishing them on the Internet.
The application says my email is not
in the database. However, I did just purchase it. It may
take up to 60 minutes for the information to make it to
our databases.

The application is not accepting
my registration code
-
Make sure there are no leading or trailing spaces.
Also make sure all letters are in lower case. Also make
sure you are using a dash (-) and not an underscore (_)
in the code.

I purchased the application,
entered the registration code (which it accepted) but the application
is still disabled

You must also enter your email that you used when you
purchased it from Handango, PocketGear, or any other web
store. When you make a purchase, they notify us (so we
already have it) and we use this to verify you are an
authorized user. The reason we do this is that registration
codes were being published on Russian web sites and LOTS
of unauthorized people were using it. It may take up to
60 minutes for our databases to get populated with your
information after your purchase. If you want your email
changed then send an email to Support@StocksAndWeatherToday.com.

I am getting a message that
the application is installed on multiple devices and my
application is now locked out.

The registration key/email combination can only be
used on one Pocket PC. If you install it on another Pocket
PC at a later time, it will work on that PPC, but it will
be disabled on the original Pocket PC. We needed to do
this to prevent people from giving out their registration/email
combinations.

There are some cases where legitimate uses may get
locked out. These cases are rare (e.g., restoring the
application from backup after installing on another Pocket
PC). Therefore, we have provided a mechanism for you to
remove the lock. Simply click here
to go to the form for clearing the lock. Once you submit
the form the lock should be cleared within 10 seconds.

If you have purchased multiple copies and
are getting locked out, then send an email to Support@StocksAndWeatherToday.com
and we will modify the server to allow you access to the
number of devices that you purchased licenses for.

I am having a problem installing
themes
-
Some devices appear to have an issue with the themes
installation file. If you cannot get the themes file to
install properly, then you may download the themes.zip
file. Unzip all the files and drag & drop the StocksAndWeatherToday
folder to either the root level of the storage card or
to "Program files" of you main memory. Once
the copy has completed, make sure you have themes enabled
on Stocks and Weather Today and make sure S & W T
directory is selected. If, after you have tried the above
and are still having problems, then please send an email
to support@StocksAndWeatherToday.com.

I am using an Ipaq 1945 (1900
series) Pocket PC and it sometimes freezes (i.e., requires a
soft reset) during an ActiveSync
-
Some people have reported this problem. There appears
to be a bug in the HP 1900 series of Ipaqs which causes
them to lockup if an application tries to access the Internet
while ActiveSync is initializing. The best work around we
have found is to go options and set the "update frequency"
values for weather and stock to 0. This means the application
will never go to the Internet to get data until you tap
the down arrow on the main screen. This does not appear
to be a problem for any other Ipaq or Pocket PC.
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
HP has released (3/16/2004) a BIOS/FW update which appears
to fix this problem. Please go to http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/download/20508.html
to get the update.

I installed the application
in a different location than the default location and the application
does not show up anywhere

Go back into the international city dialog and re-enter
your international city.
When you are tracking non US cities you must NOT edit
the field on the main cities entry page which contains
the name of your international city. If you do, the application
will think the city is in the US.

Some stocks are not showing
up
-
Verify the symbol you are using is correct. For example,
the stock symbol for A T & T is T, not ATT. Go to
www.yahoo.com, select Finance, and enter the symbol(s)
you are tracking. If yahoo can find them then so should
the application. If you are still having problems please
include the entire list of stocks symbols you are attempting
to track when you email us.

I get a strange error message
on the screen about an international (i.e., non US) city that
I am trying to get weather for

The database which contains the International data may
have been corrupted. Go to www.StocksAndWeatherToday.com
and reinstall the application (via upgrade). After the
upgrade, you should re-enter your non US cities.

Animated icons are not showing
up
-
Verify you have animated icons turned on (city tab).
Animated icons are for current weather only (not forecast).
Go to options tab and verify the weather mode is not "Forecast
Only".

I select Celsius and still get
Fahrenheit temperatures

The Celsius temperatures will start showing up after
the weather servers have updated the data. Tap on the
down arrow to force an update.

The down arrow is always red,
even when I am connected to the Internet
-
Go to the options tab and change the proxy configuration
to 'Never use proxy'. If that does not work try setting
it to 'Always use proxy'. Our algorithm for detecting
proxy is about 95% accurate, however there are some cases
where you need to override it. We currently do not support
Socks 5 style proxies (very few people use Socks 5). If
you are using Socks 5 then the application will not be
able to connect to the Internet.

I installed the themes but they
are not showing up

Go to the themes tab and verify themes are enabled.
They are disabled by default.

I have installed themes on an
SD card but they are not showing up
-
Make sure you are running load 5.19 or later. There
was an issue in earlier releases that blocked some SD
cards from being recognized. You can get the latest version
of the application at www.StocksAndWeatherToday.com.
